Today's verse is 1 Peter 1:7-9
That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:
Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
In another place we are told, In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. In the verses above we have the ultimate reason for this. For every thing that comes our way, we are tested: to show us who we are, and to remind us of who our God is, and what he has promised us, he will do. If we fail to continue in trusting him, he chastens us. If we succeed in trusting him, we are rewarded. Whether we succeed or fail, we have the opportunity to grow, for we have seen that he is faithful, that he keeps his Word, and that when he comes, we shall be found in (and with) him, in his Glory. Amen.
To God be the Glory
