How The Wicked End

Today's verse is Psalm 9:15-16
The heathen are sunk down in the pit that they made:
In the net which they hid is their own foot taken.
The LORD is known by the judgment which he executeth:
The wicked is snared in the work of his own hands.
      Higgaion. Selah.

When I look about and see that the God of Heaven, the Creator of all that is, appears to be forgotten among men, and the imaginations of most, nearly all, are only evil continually, I often forget passages like this one above. Yet, I, and not only I, but all that love the Lord God, and his Son that died for us, must remember that God is still on his throne, and the promise we see in this verse as not lost its power! Therefore, Fret not thyself because of evildoers, Neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity, have we not seen how God has them in derision, and that as God as promised, whether soon or late, their destruction will come swiftly. Amen.

Knowing The Cerainty Of Our Foundation

Today's verse is Proverbs 22:21
     That I might make thee know the certainty of the words of truth;
That thou mightest answer the words of truth to them that send unto thee?

Herein is our foundation, even the words of truth, The Bible. It is our authority, from it we receive our instruction, by it we have been commissioned, and from it we have our assurance. Therefore, when it is time to give an answer, fear not to appeal to its authority, but draw from it the right way, the way pleasing to the Father, that we may be able to give a faithful answer when we are judged. Amen.

Above All, Fear God!

Today's verse is Psalm 5:7
But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy:
And in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple.

In the verse above, there are two very important concepts: God’s mercy, and the fear of God. And in the practice of the second, we will find access to the first. If we know scripture, we know that God hath magnified his Word above all his Name. And what does that Word teach us? Even Jesus Christ! And Jesus Christ reveals to us the Father. The Book of Revelation, what does it reveal? Does it not reveal Jesus Christ and his wrath? And if the Saviour is angry, why should we not fear? Therefore, on the top of list of things to do today, let us Fear the Most Holy God, that we might receive his mercy, till he come. Amen.

Continue To Trust In God

Today's verse is Psalm 3:2-4
Many there be which say of my soul,
There is no help for him in God. Selah.
     But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me;
My glory, and the lifter up of mine head.
I cried unto the LORD with my voice,
And he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah.

David had sinned, and though he had repented, the Most Holy and Righteous God could not just let it go. Does not Paul remind us, “But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.” But even so, David remembers how God has been an ever-present help in every time of trouble David has had, and even now David places his Trust in the Lord, and even now the Lord is David’s Hope. And when we examine what God did at this time of David’s life, did he not deliver David, yet not without cost, and after all that was done, was not David restored? So, whatever trouble or trial you may be facing, whether it be of your own making or not, Trust in the Lord, Hope also in him, for it will not be in vain! Amen.

Do You See Their Derision?

Today's verse is Psalm 2:2-4
The kings of the earth set themselves,
And the rulers take counsel together,
Against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,
Let us break their bands asunder,
And cast away their cords from us.
He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh:
The Lord shall have them in derision.

In my country, those in power, those that have control, truly are doing as this psalm describes, and in their conceit, even when they speak truth, they lie. And as I hear such things, I want to despair, and I begin to lose hope. Yet, what is the promise of God here? First, God is on his throne, and he sees all that they do, and if you look, you too can see why he laughs, you too can see how he has them in derision. But not only this but look at what the Creator of heaven and Earth says of liars: A false witness shall not be unpunished, And he that speaketh lies shall not escape. And again, A false witness shall not be unpunished, And he that speaketh lies shall perish. Do you believe God? Therefore, be comforted, for as God has promised, these that seem to have power now, unless they Repent, shall not escape, but shall perish! Will you, therefore, trust him? Amen.

Will You Choose Understanding, Or Foolishness

Today's verse is Proverbs 18:2
A fool hath no delight in understanding,
But that his heart may discover itself.

One of the hardest things to receiving the gospel, is that one must face oneself and see himself as God sees him. Consider this description by Paul of the Christian before being reconciled: “that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works.” and again, “. . . but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly[.]” So, why does the fool reject understanding? Why does the fool reject wisdom, and therefore, correction? It is because he is unwilling to accept that there is anything wrong in himself. Let us, therefore, consider what John has warned, and promised: “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.” Selah [Will you seek to understand, or remain a fool?] Amen.

Peace, Beyond Understanding

Today's verse is Philippians 4:7
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

How can we in such a time as this have peace? It is because we know who God is, and we know who we are to him, and we know that our God does not forsake his own. Notice the verses that surround this one. In the preceding verse we are admonished to bring everything to our God in prayer, and in the following verse commands us what things on which we are to think. As we do these things, we will truly find that tribulation worketh patience; and patience, experience, and experience, hope; why, because we will have learned of our God, and how he takes care of his own. Above this, we will have learned that our God is faithful. Amen.

Directed Steps

Today's verse is Proverbs 16:9
A man’s heart deviseth his way:
But the LORD directeth his steps.

Settle yourself in this, whatever you have planed, whatever you hope to do, there is nothing you can do that will alter or thwart what God has planed for you! Do not worry about fate, nor destiny, but look for what God has purposed for you to accomplish, have we not been commanded to Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. So whether we trust him, or not, he will direct our way, but one brings reward, but the other destruction. Knowing this, I think I would rather have the reward. Amen.

No Secret Doctrines

Today's verse is John 18:20
Jesus answered him, I spake openly to the world; I ever taught in the synagogue, and in the temple, whither the Jews always resort; and in secret have I said nothing.

There are groups today, as there have been groups in the past which claim that they have some secret knowledge from Jesus Christ, or that they have something no one else has, given them of God, but know this, Jesus Christ being God, cannot lie! And here he clearly tells the high priest and those with him that all that he taught, he taught openly, and in secret he has said nothing! So, what we can take from this is whatever we learn, whether it be by man, or spirit, if it is true, it will conform to what we are taught by the Word of God. All that agrees with it, we can accept, but all that disagrees, or temps to cast doubt upon it, we must reject, for we know by the standard of the Word that it is false, and in due time will be proved to be a lie. Amen.

We Are Proof Of Jesus Christ

Today's verse is John 17:23
I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.

As we surrender ourselves to Jesus Christ, allowing him to be seen in us, as we are conformed to the image of Christ, by his Spirit that dwells in us, we, ourselves will be ample proof that God exists, and that he sent his Son, Jesus Christ, to suffer for our sins because of our testimony. So, whether by honour and dishonour, by evil report and good report: as deceivers, and yet true, as unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and, behold, we live; as chastened, and not killed; As sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things[;] let your faith in Christ be known, that the world might see Christ in you, and that the Father in you might be Glorified. Amen.

Rightly Dividing the Word

Today's verse is 16:25
These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father.

As I understand it, there are two primary schools of thought in regard to Bible interpretation. Some only interpret the Bible as stories, missing the richness of history the book portrays, some knowing the history, miss the truths hidden in the story. I heard a man say, that because when Jesus warned of the leaven of the Pharisees, he meant the teachings or doctrines of the Pharisees, and was not speaking of their actual bread, he thought that God did not necessarily mean that God did not create man on the sixth day. We must understand from the verse above, that not all scripture is meant to be only a proverb, or parable, and some may not be a proverb at all, but we must rightly divide the scriptures, seeking from the context what applications we may apply. After all, Thou shalt not steal, means thou shalt not steal. Amen.

Abiding In Christ

Today's verse is John 15:4
Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

Do you remember yesterday, when we read that Jesus said nothing, did nothing without the Heavenly Father speaking and working through him? Here we have an express command to do the same! We are to seek to abide in Christ as he abides in the Father, and as we abide in him, he has promised to abide in us, showing us his will in all things, that we might allow him to speak through us, and to work through us. Has it not been said in another place: Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; And lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, And he shall direct thy paths. Therefore, before we do anything, let us acknowledge him by seeking and knowing his Word, and what it has to say of the thing we are about to do. Then trusting him, whether we understand or not, obey his Word in all we do. Is this not what he means by abiding in him? Amen.

Fully Surrendered!

Today's verse is John 14:10
Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

This is a truth, that Jesus Christ did not come to be an example, but because of why he came, and because of who he is, he must be our example! Pay close attention to what Jesus said here, Is he not saying that he is totally submitted to the Father? What does this say to the question, “But what about what I want?” Does in not say that it is ungodly? Does not our God promise us so much more than we could imagine? But we must as Jesus Christ did, fully surrender unto the Master, even the Most High God, who created the Heavens and the Earth, and we do this till we all come to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ. Amen.

A Message Of Comfort And Warning

Today's verse is Exodus 34:6
And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth,

Israel had just sinned, and sinned greatly. Moses is now going back up the mount, to fix what he had broken, and at this point is when God, the gracious, longsuffering God, reveals this part of himself to Moses, and to us. This truly is a great thing, of which the God we serve is to be praised. I was just looking at those of you who have started reading my blog last week (Thank you) I remembered, “But let him that glorieth glory in this, That he understandeth and knoweth me, That I am the Lord which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: For in these things I delight, saith the Lord.” And again, “Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.” And so, I will rejoice, but as we Glory in God for this So Great Salvation, we must also remember the warning found in the very next verse after the one quoted above, and fear, for as he is abundant in goodness and truth, He is also a God of Judgment, who that will by no means clear the guilty. Amen.

Will You Demand God's Presence?

Today's verse is Exodus 32:14-15
And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.
And he said unto him, If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence.

Have you heard, “He goes where angels fear to tread?” But this begs the question, where do angels fear to tread? Is it not as so affirmed here, outside of the presence of God? We also need to be so adamant, that unless God be with us (unless we are with God) we will not move. So should the presence of God be so important to us! Will you, like Moses, refuse to Go, unless God go with thee (you, singular?) Amen.

Clothed, Or Naked?

Today's verse is Exodus 32:25
And when Moses saw that the people were naked; (for Aaron had made them naked unto their shame among their enemies:)

Here appears to be a truth, with one exception that I know of (which I will not speak further, for I do not currently understand it) the Worship of God leads to being clothed, yet, as worship turns to other things, so also do the clothes come off. Even when Paul is speaking of the desire for the resurrected body, he uses the metaphor of being Clothed, For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven, and again, For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life. So, what are we showing the world Does our dress testify that we have been covered by the Blood of Jesus Christ? Or, that we have rejected that wonderful gift by our immodestly. Selah [Let us just think on that for a moment.] Amen.

The Purpose Of Miracles

Today's verse is John 10:38
But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him.

What do we see here? But Jesus stating the reason he did the works that he did. The works that he did, was for the purpose of showing us his authority. Truly the were a sign that he was and is the Son of God, yea, God the Son. When they asked for a sign, refusing to accept the miracles before them, he allowed them their deception, and pointed them to the Cross. Consider, you that seek for the miracles for your own glory, what did Abraham tell the rich man as he was tormented in the flames of Hell, asking that Lazarus, be sent back to warn his brothers (a miracle, or a sign.) But what as Abraham answer? Was it not, They have Moses and the prophets, let them hear them? And now, we have Moses, the prophets and the Apostles, if these are not sufficient, which God hah magnified above all his Name, neither would any miracle! So, will you accept God and his Word? For faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. Amen.

Will You Choose Liberty?

Today's verse is Proverbs 6:23
     For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light;
And reproofs of instruction are the way of life:

Do you believe rules are confining, or liberating? We know that evil is to reject God’s commandments, and we know that to reject God command is to be placed under bondage, does not Paul remind us, Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? And further, For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness. What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death. So, what we can conclude is that which leads to life, is liberating, but that which brings death, is bondage. Which will you choose, Life, or Death. Amen.

A Better Sacrifice

Today's verse is Exodus 29:38-39
Now this is that which thou shalt offer upon the altar; two lambs of the first year day by day continually.
The one lamb thou shalt offer in the morning; and the other lamb thou shalt offer at even:

In the above passage we are told of two sacrifices to sanctify the altar, not to absolve, or even to cover sin, even for a season, but just to cleanse the altar, so that if might be usable for the other sacrifices, which also never could absolve, but only be a covering for sin for a limited time, that God would not destroy this year.  But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. And for in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. So, will you put away your efforts, and rest in the one who has finished the job, and allow him to live through you? Amen.

The First Rule Of Understanding Scripture

Today's verse is John 7:17
If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.

There are three things that must be fulfilled before one can understand God’s Word. The first, there must be a willingness of mind! Notice the promise above, that if any be willing to do God’s will, God shall (promise) show him the doctrine. (In this case, whether Christ is of God, or doing his own thing.) Does not God tell us that he rewards those that diligently seek him? So, if you are having trouble with understanding a passage of God’s Word, First, examine yourself, and see if you are truly willing to know and do what your loving Father in heaven wants of you. Amen. (And yes, I have not mentioned the other two, though there is a hint to the second.)

What Did Jesus Mean, Drink His Blood?

Today's verse is John 6:35
And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

Much has been made of Jesus saying, “Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.” Yet some things that we know. First, except for a short time during the week of the passion, Jesus always spoke in Parables. Second and third, this passage is sandwiched between two statements which give context for understanding what he is saying. The verse given above is the first statement, and the second is, “It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” So, as it is easier to understand from the verse above, to drink of the Blood of Christ is believe on him, that is to know that when Jesus Died upon the Cross, he did so in your place, that your sin might be paid for, and you are thereby counted forgiven, even Justified, by God. Now, the other, may be a little harder to Suss out, but Jesus Christ is the Word of God, and I fully believe that we eat his flesh by Reading and heading his Word, but while you are doing that, forget not to Ruminate on it as well, then when you have opportunity, Regurgitate it. Amen.
