Today's verse is Isaiah 9:2
The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light:
They that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.
What was the state of the people of Israel when God gave the promise of a child to be born, a son given, upon whom God will give the Government, by which peace will be evermore? And when that Son came, were they any better? The Most High God knows our need, he knows our iniquities, and yet he loves us and has provided us a Saviour! And he invites you to come as you are, but when you come, come hoping and looking for the change he will make in you. Come, knowing that in your current state you do not please him, but come, knowing that before he finishes his judgments, he will redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. So, will you come before it is too late, for once again he is coming into a world of darkness, but when he does come, it will be in judgment, destroying all them that reject him, and setting up his kingdom forever more. Amen.
