Huldah, A True Prophet of God?

Today's verse is 2 Kings 22:20
Behold therefore, I will gather thee unto thy fathers, and thou shalt be gathered into thy grave in peace; and thine eyes shall not see all the evil which I will bring upon this place. And they brought the king word again.

If we were to read the next chapter, we will find that King Josiah died as the result of a wound recieved in a battle that he had no business starting. This had troubled me, for can that be counted as having died in peace as Huldah, who is called a prophetess, proclaimed God had said. But compare the words of Jeremiah, whose ministry had begun five years before, had said of the same subject, . . . Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, saying, Hear ye the words of this covenant, and do them . . . Yet they obeyed not . . . With the God that created Heaven and Earth, and all that in them is, there is almost always an opportunity to Repent, Jeremiah gave them that chance, Huldah basically said that their Repentance would be in vain, whereas Jeremiah proclaimed that their repentance was false. Therefore, even today, turn to God with a True Heart, that whatever else may happen, you will escape the wrath of God to come. Amen.

Will You Hear?

Today's verse is Hebrews 3:7
Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice, . . .

There are those that say that we no longer need to pay any attention to the Old Testament. Yet, even as we have here as an example, the New Testament is always quoting and alluding to it. So, will you hear? Will you take counsel from the whole Word of God? For truly, we cannot understand the New, if we have not the Old, and everything in the New has at least been foreshadowed in the Old, for the New explains and builds from the Old, and if we forsake the Old, the New is made of no effect. Therefore, let us study to show ourselves approved of God, that we may know him, and that we may Rejoice that He Knows us. Amen.

The Necessity Of Suffering

Today's verse is Hebrews 2:10
For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

Today, yea, even in all of this age, and those that came before, who is there that has not complained of the suffering that all of mankind has endured! Wondering why, O why, must there be so much suffering, not just of Man, but seen throughout all of creation? Truly, if we have but read the first few chapters of the first book of God’s Word, we know the answer. However, take note, that God himself, knowing our plight, saw fit to bring himself to our level (yet without sin) suffering the same penalty that he has placed upon us, so what in his loving kindness, we might in the next age, as we live in his presence, that suffering has been done away. But if God counted it necessary to suffer to be made the perfect Saviour, how can we who needs that same Salvation count suffering as any less of a necessity? Have we not been commanded, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations, and again in another place, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; . . . Therefore, when you suffer, even as you suffer, give Glory unto God, knowing that your suffering is not in vain, but is working in you the full appreciation of the God who loves you, that you may know him in all of His Glory. Amen.

Are You Seeing The Real Issue?

Today's verse is 2 Kings 19:22
Whom hast thou reproached and blasphemed?
And against whom hast thou exalted thy voice,
And lifted up thine eyes on high?
Even against the Holy One of Israel.

When Joshua faced the Captain of the Lord of hosts he asked whose side he was on, but the answer was Nay, for it is not their side, nor is it our side, but it is who will stand for the things of God? Who will seek out the God that made Heaven and Earth, and all that in them is. What is it that God demands, both of us, and those that oppose us. The battle is truly the Lord’s, are we fighting him, or with him? Is he showing us his power? or are we showing him our devotion, and trust in him? So, whatever difficulty we may be facing, Fear God, not it, and as he has over and over again, he will deliver those that trust in him, even if it is to bring us home to him. Amen.

Dwelling In Unity

Today's verse is Psalm 133:1
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is
For brethren to dwell together in unity!

It has been said, which I also believe, that it is impossible to tune two pianos one against another, that is, if you wish to have both in tune one to another, then they must both be tuned to the same standard. This is also true of all born of the seed of Adam. So then, if we wish to dwell in unity with the brethren, those that have recieved power of Jesus Christ to be called the Sons of God, we must seek to be of one mind with Christ by each of us agreeing with the Word of God. Then perhaps we will find out what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints is. Amen.

Comparing Ourselves With Others

Today's verse is 2 Kings 17:19
Also Judah kept not the commandments of the LORD their God, but walked in the statutes of Israel which they made.

Have you heard of “Keeping up with the Jones’?” This is apparently what Judah had done, for it was not until the time Israel, their northern neighbour was removed for their transgressions, that the King of Judah finally removed the High Places from the land, for God had commanded by Moses, that only at the place He [God] had chosen should Israel (for they were not yet divided) go to worship. But they comparing themselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.” For we are to judge ourselves not by our standards (or our neighbor's) but by God’s, that is we are to compare ourselves to God’s Word, to God’s standard, that we might find ourselves in need of the Saviour, who took our place on the Cross that we might live through him that died for us. Christ Seen Through Us

Today's verse is Titus 2:7
In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity,

David has prayed, Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer. And in another place his son has said, Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established. What we do, and who we do it for, will affect our thoughts, and our thoughts will affect our actions. Therefore, if you know the Lord, even better, if he knows you, allow him to be seen through you, that those about you may learn of him, and his love not only for you, but for them. Amen.

Holding Fast To God's Word

Today's verse is Titus 1:9
Holding fast the faithful word mas he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.

I think from the observations made of another, that there is a group, even a religious group (the Catholic Church) who is starting to preach we only have to be good, to be accepted of God, that I now understand what Paul told Timothy, Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. What is that power? It is even as Paul told the Romans, For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth[.] So, let us hold fast to the Word which God has given us, and faithfully keep the doctrines, even the sound doctrines found therein, especially the gospel, for only by it can we, or anyone, find their way into the presence of a Righteous and Holy God. Willfully Blind

Today's verse is 2 Timothy 4:4
And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

You may wonder, why cannot “they” see what is plainly set before them? Here we have the answer, because they have rejected the God of Heaven and Earth, the maker of them and all that is therein, not wanting to know the truth, as Paul as testified here, they have chosen not to listen. Yet, we have already been told, and we have already considered how we ought to interact with them. We are to constantly seek that which is true, and knowing the truth, we are to speak to them in meekness (that is from a position of strength, but with gentleness) in the hopes that the God that hates the death of the wicked will speak to them, opening up their hearts to hear of his Love for them, that they might choose then to Repent, Confessing Jesus Christ as Lord, being made new from his resurrection from the dead. So, be patient, knowing that our God and King is on the Throne, and he has set forth the time when his Wrath will burn up all those that have rejected the truth. Amen.

Mercy, Rather Than Sacrifice?

Today's verse is Hosea 6:6
     For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice;
And the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.

Matthew tells us us Jesus had rebuked the Pharisees for not understanding the first part of this verse, “I will have mercy, and not sacrifice.” Ever since reading the first command to go understand what if means, i have had trouble doing so. For, as I understand it, without the sacrifice Christ made for us, there is no mercy. Yet, Paul in Hebrews, I believe, has given an answer. For he quotes Psalms, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me. For Jesus Christ has shown us mercy, and the Pharisees were to be looking for that one that Isaiah spoke of that would suffer for our transgressions, even that our iniquities would in the sight of God be forgiven. But go and search the scriptures and see if you can understand what the Pharisees did not. Amen.

Speaking To Those That Do Not Know

Today's verse is 2 Timothy 2:25
In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;

Paul has also said, To speak evil of no man. Why? because we also have been like them before we were drawn by the Holy Ghost to seeing and receiving the gift of Salvation which we have found in Jesus Christ. For many, having rejected God, have had their eyes blinded to that which is true, calling it a lie, and when the truth comes, they only see the personal consequences that the truth will have upon those things that they cherish, not knowing that they truly are slaves to the unrighteousness they think that they enjoy. Therefore, in meekness (that is knowing what the truth is, being secure in it, but not using it as a bludgeon against them) communicate the truth and the love of God to them, knowing that it is God, even his Spirit, who is the one that will convince, or convict them of the truth, knowing The righteousness of thy testimonies is everlasting: Give me understanding, and I shall live. That is, even we, ourselves, rely upon God to give us the understanding we need, that we also might live. Amen.

A Sure Guide

Today's verse is Psalm 119:113
      I hate vain thoughts:
But thy law do I love.

In Ezekiel God tells us that if we reject him, he will give us a code, or law system that can lead only to death: Statutes that are not good, and judgments by which one cannot live, and Paul therefore declares that those that have not glorified God as God, are given over to vanity and foolishness. But by God’s Word, yea, even by his law, commandments, testimonies, statutes, and judgments, we can discern between what is vain, what is foolish, and so choose to avoid them all by the power of the Holy Ghost, which God has given us that we might live for him. Selah [what choice have you made today?] Amen.

Looking Forward, And Enjoying Today

Today's verse is Psalm 119:84
How many are the days of thy servant?
When wilt thou execute judgment on them that persecute me?

Truly the day of God’s Judgment is coming, for those that refuse to know him are many, and appear to be growing! Yet, is not today, the day which the Lord hath made; even as that day that Jesus died upon the Cross for us that we might live. So, even as we look for that Blessed Hope: the appearing of the Great God, our Saviour, Jesus Christ, even as we wait for him, let us live in this day, and see what our God has for us even today, and let tomorrow take care for itself, for we have today, and today someone needs to hear of our Saviour. What Do You Seek?

Today's verse is Psalm 119:57
Thou art my portion, O LORD:
I have said that I would keep thy words.

What is it that Satisfies you? Do you require more than that which God has given? Consider the promise our Saviour has given us through Matthew, seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. What are these things? They are the food we need, and the clothes that allow us to remain modest. So then, it is God that satisfies, and it is God that determines how he will satisfy us. Therefore, seek out God’s Word, and abide in it, and in Him, and allow them to abide in you, and see what great things God will do through you. Amen.

The Danger Of Not Believing God

Today's verse is 2 Kings 7:2
Then a lord on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, Behold, if the LORD would make windows in heaven, might this thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.

I know that I have been tempted to be as this man, for he did not believe the Word of God from the Man of God, and for his unbelief, he died. Peter has testified that we have a more sure word of prophecy, yea, even God’s written Word. God has told us that he knows the end from the beginning, Yea, even before he laid the foundations of the Earth. For even as Paul has told us that Abraham learned, calling those things that be not as though they were. Even as we see what this lord disbelieved, for even as God said through Elisha, so by the end of the next day, it was. Will you choose to believe all that God has said today? Amen.

Knowing Who The Lawmaker Is!

Today's verse is Psalm 119:23
Princes also did sit and speak against me:
But thy servant did meditate in thy statutes.

Today, there are those that have determined their own system of what is right, and what is wrong, which God has told us by Ezekiel that he is the author of it, consider: Wherefore I gave them also statutes that were not good, and judgments whereby they should not live[.] But Paul put it this way, And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient[.] Therefore, we that remember who God is, let us also remember who it is that determines what is right, and what is wrong, and meditate in his ways and do them, for in the end, we shall all have to stand, or prostrate before him and give him an account of all that we have done or said. God's Word Confirmed

Today's verse is Daniel 9:12
And he hath confirmed his words, which he spake against us, and against our judges that judged us, by bringing upon us a great evil: for under the whole heaven hath not been done as hath been done upon Jerusalem.

If you read Deuteronomy and the things God promises to do if Israel does not obey his Law, you will find that even as Moses so describes, so does it happen in the days of Jeremiah, Ezekiel and Daniel. And now in our day, we begin to see events that are as Jesus told us in the Olivet discourse, let us therefore, both fear, and be encouraged, for as God's Word has been proved in Judgment, it is also reliable in regard to his Mercy and his Grace. So, let us repent, and turn to the one that Died for us, that we also might live, and Trust in him with all our heart, acknowledging him in all our ways, for even in these times, he will direct our paths. No Other Doctrine

Today's verse is 1 Timothy 1:3
As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine,

What is this doctrine that Paul speaks of? I believe it is to walk with God according to His Word, to remain faithful to His Counsels, and to avoid the false wisdom of the world, which leads to all things contrary to the nature and Knowledge of God. Therefore, having had recieved Christ, let us abstain from the pollutions of this world, that we may enjoy the pleasures of the Lord our God to their full, that both he may be Glorified, and we in him. God Has Done As He Pleased

Today's verse is Psalm 115:3
But our God is in the heavens:
He hath done whatsoever he hath pleased.

Do you have a right view of God? Do you understand both his Goodness, and the dread of him, Yea, the terror of the Lord? Do you know, that by definition, whatsoever he does, is right? Yea, even right now, all events that are transpiring are according to design, giving men a final opportunity to repent before he pours his Wrath upon the world, when all that have rejected His Son, Jesus Christ, will know that He is the Lord. Therefore, let us learn of His Mercy and Grace, that we may communicate it to those that have not yet learned, and may hap some will even repent and come to the Lord of Glory. Amen.

Comforted By Word And Work

Today's verse is 2 Thessalonians 2:17
Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.

There are many troubling things that are happening in our current day. Yet, as we read God’s Word, we see that he has already told us of these things, and that by his Character, he will not judge those that know him not, until their iniquity is full, and just as we have learned that he is God by his goodness, they will learn that he is God when they experience his Wrath. Therefore, let us that know him who loved us, show forth that same love to those about us, both by word and deed, that he might be glorified in us, who have experienced his grace. Amen.

Giving Honour To Whom Honour Is Due

Today's verse is Daniel 5:18
O thou king, the most high God gave Nebuchadnezzar thy father a kingdom, and majesty, and glory, and honour:

When Daniel interpreted Nebuchadnezzar’s dream of the great tree, he spake to him in accordance to the description we are given on him here, he gave him Honor, even entreated him, rather than rebuking him. But now, as he is speaking to Belshazzar, there is no sense in Daniel of one entreating a superior, or an elder, but it is clear that he is giving this King a rebuke for his misdeeds, with little or no respect for his station. What should we make of this? I cannot say, but remember the commandment of Paul, Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honor. Would Daniel’s example be how we interpret this passage, or does this passage teach us that what Daniel did with Belshazzar was not correct? Selah [What does the Spirit of God tell you?] Amen.

Not Appointed To Wrath

Today's verse is 1 Thessalonians 5:9
For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

If we that know Jesus Christ, are not appointed to wrath, it is important to know what that wrath is. Some will immediately point to Hell, or rather the Lake of Fire, and indeed, that is the final end for all those that God inflicts his wrath upon. But consider of what Paul speaks when he says, What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wraith fitted to destruction; but we that are awake, that is aware, know that that wrath of God begins when the day of the Lord begins, and by the context of today’s verse, is that the day of the Lord begins with the Blessed Hope, even when our God, even Jesus Christ, calls his Bride home. Fear The One That Avenges

Today's verse is 1 Thessalonians 4:6
That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified.

Today I also read of how for her husband Ahab, the King of Israel, Jezebel had set up Naboth, falsely accused him, and had him convicted, and immediately executed, all that she might present to her husband Naboth’s vineyard. For this cause, God judged Ahab, not to mention Jezebel for this wickedness. God may allow evil men to do evil things, even us, who profess to know the Saviour, for why does Paul give this warning, But we must always, and continuously fear the Lord our God, for as Ahab was sentenced, though he repented, Judgment was still carried out, though delayed. Selah [Think on these things.] Amen.
