Are You Fearing The Wrong Thing?

Today's verse is Matthew 8:26
And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.

Why the rebuke? These men were men that knew the lake, they knew the danger they were in, why should they not fear? Some might say, because Jesus the Son of God was in the boat, and God would not allow him to so perish. Perhaps, they had knowledge of such a thing. Yet, Jesus had, at this time, recently preached the sermon on the mount, and in that sermon was the admonition “Are ye not much better than they?” speaking of the birds. Jesus has said, that we as his creation have value, and those of us who have chosen to follow him, we have the Father’s ear, so when trouble or turmoil, or danger presents itself, as Isaiah has asked, “Who art thou, that thou shouldest be afraid of a man that shall die?” And if you having made your peace with God, which is available to us through Jesus his Son, Fearing him, what is there left to fear? In him we have our purpose, in him we have our reason, and there is no circumstance that can keep us from accomplishing what he has set before us. So, “Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith?” Amen.

Do We Have The Right Foundation?

Today's verse is Matthew 7:24
Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:

In the beginning of Jeremiah’s ministry there was what seemed to be a great revival, yet the people listened to prophets that where not prophets, and pastors that destroyed and scattered the flock, and today much the same appears to be happening. Just a little bit before this we are told that a good tree cannot bear corrupt fruit, and corrupt tree cannot bear good fruit. But we have a promise from our Savior, Jesus Christ, that if we hear his Words, and do them, we will have a firm foundation, that cannot be washed away. How is it then being swept away from us? Could it be that we have forsaken God’s Word for something else? Following prophets that are not of God? Let us, therefore, Find the Word of God that is everlasting and endureth to all generations, and follow it, and see if God will restore us as a reflector of the true Beacon that lights the way of the World. Amen.

Who Supplies Your Need?

Today's verse is Matthew 6:31-32
Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

Compare also the questions Jesus asked his disciples, as they debated his meaning about the leaven of the Pharisees, thinking because they had no bread, “Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up? Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?” Therefore, do you understand, is it becoming clear, that we can look to our God, and expect him to provide our most basic needs? If we but seek his will, his way, first, then as he supplied Elijah at the brook, so will he supply us in our time of need. So, let us not fear to place him first, for as we seek to do his will, according to his Word, he will by his Word supply our need, sometimes as he did Boaz whose farm prospered, but other times as he did Elijah as he stayed with the Widow and her son. Amen.

Testify!

Today's verse is Acts 5:32
And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.

Have you meet Jesus Christ? Do you know that when he died, he died for your sin? Have you, confessing that Jesus rose from the dead, received the Spirit of Christ, which is given to all that have believed on the Son of God? Then fear not to testify of these things that you know, whether those you speak to are willing to hear or not, for it is not you that will bring understanding to them, but that same Holy Ghost which now dwells within you. If they are willing to hear, shew them the way to the Savior, the same way you found him (did he not find you first?) But if they are not willing to hear, forbear the debate, instead allow that same Spirit to work as you let them go their way. It is not your job to convince, but the Spirit’s. Our Job is but to testify both in Word and deed the wonderful Work Jesus Christ has done in us, that the Holy Ghost may then draw all men to Christ as he is lifted up by us. Amen.

John Cast Into Prison?

Today's verse is Matthew 4:12
Now when Jesus had heard that John was cast into prison, he departed into Galilee;

A hard thing to comprehend. Some believe that if you follow Jesus, if you devote your life to him, nothing bad will happen to you. Yet, Jesus’ forerunner, the one that announced Jesus’ arrival has been cast into prison, and will not leave till he is killed. Yet, Jesus had given him high praise. But as John the Baptist had said, “He must increase, but I must decrease.” And so as Jesus' ministry begins, John’s comes to an end. But his reward is secure. Will you be faithful as John the Baptist was faithful. Will you serve your Savior and Lord no matter the cost? Will you give him your Trust in all things, whether you understand it or not? Remembering that we must give an account to him, but he owes us no such thing? But His promises are secure, and as we suffer with him, so shall we inherit with him as well, being made Joint heirs with the Son of God. Imagine That. Amen.

The First Lie

Today's verse is Genesis 3:1
Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

In this verse above we have the first lie, posed as a question, “Yea, hath God said?” which the serpent, yea the Devil has been saying ever since. Notice a part of Eve’s answer, “But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden . . .” Is not the tree of life also in the midst of the garden? Did Eve, and possibly Adam as well misunderstand God’s injunction? Did they avoid both trees, not understanding God’s Word? This we do not know. Yet, what we do know, is that by not knowing God’s Word, they were easily led to transgression. And ever since then, even to today, that first lie persists, “Yea, hath God said?” There are now many books that are claimed to be God’s Word. Yet, according to the Word of God, only the incorruptible Word of God, can bring us to the knowledge of that precious Salvation provided for us by the precious blood of Christ, which was shed for us as he died upon that tree called the Cross. The differences are subtil even as the serpent was subtil, but only one can be the incorruptible Word of God, and the Truth can be found. Will you search it out? Amen.

Being In One Accord

Today's verse is Acts 2:1
And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

How is it that these where all in agreement? It is because they knowing what the Word of God was, and what the commandment from Jesus was, they were in obedience to it. When we each knowing what God’s Word is, seek to conform ourselves to it, all that take part will find as David described, “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!” But they that refuse the counsel of God through his word will only know confusion and turmoil. So, seek out God’s Word, and know it, study it, conform to it, and as you are in agreement with it, you will be in agreement with all others who also agree with it. Amen.

Being Filled With The Spirit In Power

Today's verse is Acts 1:8
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Amongst some the question has been posed: “What is the evidence of being filled with the Holy Ghost?” I will not give you the answer they arrived at, and at this time I do not know if the question is even a question we should be asking. Consider the command: “And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit:” and the truth found here: “But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.” Now, let us consider, just in case it is a proper question, what would be the answer? As I began to write this, the answer I would have given is: that we have boldness to tell others of Jesus Christ, but now I am convinced that that is incomplete, and possibly even misleading. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance” these are the things we will see in ourselves if we are filled with, or walking in, the Spirit. So, as we have been commanded, surrender to the control of the Spirit of God, which he gave you when you believed, and as Peter has commanded: with diligence, “add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; and to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; and to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brother kindness charity. For if these things be in you. and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Amen.

Are You Really Greater Than God?

 Job 41:11
Who hath prevented me, that I should repay him?
Whatsoever is under the whole heaven is mine.

After all that is said and done, Who art thou? that you should escape the plans God has for you. Who art thou? that thinks that you will not have to give God an answer. So, Stop now, and give God the Praise, Give him the Glory, seek out those promises he has made. Trust in him with all that you are, even your whole heart, lean not unto your own understanding. In every way, in all that you do, without fail, Acknowledge him, and as he has promised, he will direct your paths, that you may be made into the image of his Son, pleasing unto him. Amen.

A Glimpse Of What Comes After

Today's verse is Revelation 21:3
And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.

The third woe has not yet passed, but what is a woe to many, to others it is a cause to rejoice, For as it was in the Garden with Adam and Eve before they fell, so it will be again: For God will no longer be hidden as he is today, and his habitation will no longer solely be in Heaven, but he will be found openly in that Great City, New Jerusalem. Both Israel and the Church shall abide there with him. As as the hart panteth after the water, all that desire God, will God give of the fountain of the water of life freely, and as Israel, and as the Church they also will be given power to become the sons of God, and God shall be their God, and he, as he had Israel and the Church, will give them an inheritance in all things. Will you be there? Is your name written in the Lamb’s book of life? Amen.

The Devil's End

Today's verse is 20:10
And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

This is speaking of that same that said, “I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.” None of this was ever achieved, however much he may have thought he had when he lead us to kill the Son of God. This is a small but significant part of the third woe, for this is the last that we hear of the Devil, for this is his end, as he will now ever without end be in torment, as will, soon after this, all that allowed themselves to be deceived by him. I implore you with all that is in me, do not be of that number! So come, and follow the King, accepting his pardon which he purchased by his own blood, that you may see that place he has prepared. A place with no more tears, no more death, nor sorrow, nor any more crying, nor any more pain: “for the former things are passed away.” Amen.

God Is Greater!

Today's verse is Job 33:12-13
Behold, in this thou art not just: I will answer thee,
That God is greater than man.
Why dost thou strive against him?
For he giveth not account of any of his matters.

Do you have a complaint against God? Know now, whether you have a just cause or not, God by definition is never wrong! Did not Paul proclaim: “Who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?” So, reconcile in your heart now, that God does not have to give an account to you, but you do have to give an account to him, so humble yourself now, and consider what Grace he has given that he has provided to you an Advocate, even one that will give your account for you, even that same one that took your place when he died upon that tree, then arose the third day, and is now, at the right hand of the Father making intercession for you. Therefore, whatever your cause may be, whatever case you think you might have, put your Trust in him, and Hope in him, and he shall make you stand in his presence, made Righteous by his blood. Amen.

The Principal Thing

Today's verse is Job 28:18
No mention shall be made of coral, or of pearls:
For the price of wisdom is above rubies.

Where do you place your treasure? Or what do you value most? In the middle of what seems to be Job’s Hubris, we find both what is to be valued, and how to obtain it. Did not Solomon counsel us, “Wisdom is the principal thing, therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding[?]” So, what is this Wisdom, and how do we obtain this understanding? Job tells us, “Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.” Today, can Wisdom be found in the Earth? Do even they who are called by the Name of Jesus, who have the Honor of being identified as the Bride of Christ (The Church) display the Fear of God, is there any appearance that they are setting the example and departing from evil (Those things that God hates?) Yet, it is not too late, to not only Reverence God, but to Fear and Tremble in his presence, and as John has been Counseled, “Come out of her, my people, That ye be not partakers of her sins, And that ye receive not of her plagues.” So, will you seek Wisdom? And in your getting of Wisdom will you also get understanding? And in seeking these things, seek out those that are doing the same. Amen.

God Sees! Do You?

Today's verse is Job 24:1
Why, seeing times are not hidden from the Almighty,
Do they that know him not see his days?

A rhetorical Question? Jesus pointed out, that though we can hear the wind, we can not see it. But it can be felt, and we can know of its presence, and in much the same way can God be known of, if not known. Here is a thing to fear, and to rejoice; The God that made Heaven and Earth, not only sees, but knows all that transpires in his creation, and has appointed a time, not only for each individual to face him in judgment, but he has also appointed a time when He, himself, will judge the Earth, and all that are then in it, and at such a time there will no longer be any that can say, “There is no God!” For God will reveal himself openly, but many having had believed the lie, will embrace it still, and will find themselves destroyed by his Righteous Goodness, and his Mercy, which endureth forever to those that Hope and Trust in him. Selah [Will you be among that number?] Amen.

What Is Most Important To You?

Today's verse is Job 23:12
     Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips;
I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.

What a statement Job here makes, and OH, what a statement it is. Though he has confessed his sin, and expressed his hope a few times for his friends, here he confesses that he has a clear conscience before God, and that even more important to him are those things that God has spoken to him. Can you say the same? If it was a choice that must be made, would you choose to eat, or to read and meditate on the Word of God? And above that, would you not only praise God, but whatever circumstance you find yourself in, Would you give God the Glory he is due? If, as Job has here, you lost all including your health, would you Glorify God, or would your curse him as Job’s wife encouraged him to do? Even more, If God gave you all that you could imagine, would you still put God first in all that you do, and give him alone the Glory? Do we not find in Proverbs: “Two things have I required of thee; / Deny me them not before I die: / Remove far from me vanity and lies: / Give me neither poverty nor riches; / Feed me with food convenient for me: / Lest I be full, and deny thee, / And say, Who is the Lord? / Or lest I be poor, and steal, / And take the name of my God in vain.” Selah [What have you Chosen?] Amen.

Keeping Our Eyes (And Trust) Upon God

Today's verse is Psalm 141:8
But mine eyes are unto thee, O GOD the Lord:
In thee is my trust; leave not my soul destitute.

Today, I read of Job, still trusting in God, though nothing was going right for him, and his friends, seeing his plight, condemned him, for God would only allow such things to happen only to the guilty, right? Yet, today, I also read of those that had gotten the victory over the beast, all all that he had demanded, and the first impression of the context would be that they had died faithful to the true God, whatever the price they had to pay! In all of this, their souls are not in the Presence of God, thus they are indeed not destitute! Whatever you face, whether times of Great Joy and Happiness, or times of sorrow, need and loss (but even in this our God promises Joy) will you keep your eyes upon God the lord, and keep your trust in him? Job did, David did, Those Saints who lived and died under the rule of the Beast did; Therefore, why can’t we? Amen.

The Time To Decide Is Now!

Today's verse is Revelation 14:9
And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand

The battle line has been drawn, and the way is clear. None can say that they did not understand, and even as it is today, it is time to choose your side! Will you be as Esau, who for hunger’s sake sold his birthright for what amounts to a bowl of soup? Sacrificing the Eternal for the immediate or temporal? Or will you as Moses, Esteem the reproach of Christ greater riches, and choose to suffer affliction with God’s people, than enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season? Or, then there is the Jew, stiffnecked as always, will not decide till they see the one they have pierced coming in his Glory, then shall they repent, and be brought under the protection of the Lamb. But for many, even that day will be too late, for many that have read this, or could have read this today, will not see that day, and their final decision day will have already passed, so do not delay, choose today whom you shall serve, for Today, is the day of Salvation. A Firm Foundation

Today's verse is Psalm 100:3
Know ye that the LORD he is God:
      It is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves;
We are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

A very humbling and sobering thought: That the Lord God, He is God, and we did not make ourselves, nor for our own pleasure were we made, but for the pleasure of the Great God in Heaven who made all things. Therefore turn unto him and give him both the Honor and obedience the he is due, and as you do so, you will find that he is worthy of being Thanked, and Praised. For indeed he is Good, and his mercy is everlasting, and there is never a time to say, “His Truth is old fashioned, and no longer valid for today.” Yea, his truth endureth to all generations. Amen.

Is God's Salvation A Perversion Of Justice?

Today's verse is Job 8:3
     Doth God pervert judgment?
Or doth the Almighty pervert justice?

The Blessed answer to these questions are; Never! Yet these questions are asked not in understanding, nor in any way with a pure motive, for they are mocking Job’s hope of salvation. For Job is looking to God for the Pardon of his Transgressions. It is for this cause Jesus Christ came the first time, for he suffered our Hate, and he allowed that hate to put him up on the Cross, and when he died upon that Cross, Oh, what a Victory! for in dying he took all of our sins, and he paid them in full, that any that will can come to him and find themselves forgiven of any and all of their transgressions. Then rising up the Third day, he defeated Death, that we in him might live. Judgment and Justice are satisfied in the Cross, but what should happen to those, as Bildad here mock “So Great Salvation?” I know, I do not want to be found in that number. Do you? Selah [Be sure of your Answer.] Amen.

Responding To Our Trials

Today's verse is Job 5:17
Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth:
Therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty:

First and foremost, Recognize that God is Just! As this book starts, God himself testifies of Job, and how God is pleased with him. Yet, at the end of the book, we learn that even Job is not without dross, which must be purified away. So, as James has counseled, when troubles come, though God himself commends Job, even by James, let us not be as Job as he complained, but Rejoice, for our God, the righteous Judge, is letting us know that there is something in us that must be purified. Therefore, first examine yourself, are you in Christ, is Christ in you, once you are sure of that, be patient in all longsuffering, and be open to God’s correction, and in due course according to his mercy, he will reveal to you that which must be cleansed and will enable you to Repent from it. And forget not that Job was restored double of all that he had lost. Amen.

Are You Looking For God To Fulfill His Promises?

Today's verse is Revelation 10:7
But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.

In the verse just before this we learn that time shall be no longer, that is, God’s longsuffering has come to an end, that the time for his promises to be fulfilled in are now at hand, will you be ready? For those who hope is in the Lord God, the Most High over all the Earth, It will be a time to rejoice, but for all others, it is the third woe! Of this, You Do Not Want To Take Part! For if your name is not found in the Lamb’s book of life, your place will be in the Lake of Fire, where the Beast and the False Prophet [will be,] there will be no Party there, for Isaiah says of that place, “For their worm shall not die, Neither shall their fire be quenched; And they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh.” So let not this be your end, but be found among those that Rejoice in the Lord, For He is Good to all those that Trust in Him. Are We Honoring God?

Today's Verse is Malichi 1:8
And if ye offer the blind for sacrifice, is it not evil?
And if ye offer the lame and sick, is it not evil?
    Offer it now unto thy governor;
Will he be pleased with thee, or accept thy person? saith the LORD of hosts.

I speak to those that say they have recieved Christ as Savior. When you seek to Honor God, do you do it with those things that are of your Best, or with those things that if you where to met the Mayor, or the Governor, or the President, you would be ashamed so to find yourself? Consider what Jesus did for you! The God that Created the universe and all that in it is, suffered a shameful and painful death that you might be able to stand before the Father, righteous and whole. What is that worth to you? So when we give to our God, what message to we give him? Do we by our gift tell him that what he did for us was a contemptible thing? Or does our gift show him how thankful we are for what he did for us? Selah [What a Savior!] Amen.

Make Good Your Word!

Today's verse is Nehemiah 10:29
They clave to their brethren, their nobles, and entered into a curse, and into an oath, to walk in God’s law, which was given by Moses the servant of God, and to observe and do all the commandments of the LORD our Lord, and his judgments and his statutes;

Last week, as we read the writings of John, we saw that the commandment of God was not grievous. And here we see that those that had returned to the land saw fit to bind themselves to the law of God again, to do that which God says is right and to do his statutes. Yet, after Nehemiah left Jerusalem for a time, when he came back, many had departed from this oath they had made, and did all the things they vowed that they would not do, and did not do that which they had promised to do. Such is our nature, and such we must guard against. So, Today, Repent, and examine yourself, have you truly been made a Son of God, through Jesus Christ, and if Jesus died for you, who should you live for? So, are you living for Jesus Christ, or as these Jews that had made their oath stumbled, doing the easy thing, allowing the things of this world blind their eyes, and forgot the God that loves them? So, “Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.” Do you want the riches your God has for you, or the vain empty things the World has to offer? Selah [Choose Wisely.] Amen.

To God be the Glory
