Are You Looking For Christ's Return?

Today's Verse is Deuteronomy 30:6
And the LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live.

O how Great is the Lord God, Creator of Heaven and Earth, who knows the End from the Beginning, and Keeps His Promises even as He has said. This promise is given to the Children of Israel and has yet to be fulfilled, yet already is God performing the promises He has made them found in this same context, for He is bringing His People back to the Land which He has promised them even as He has Promised them through His Servant Moses. Therefore, we can be sure that He will keep this promise on the day they shall look upon Him whom they have pierced. But not only to them is this promise, but us Gentiles have already been brought in through Jesus Christ. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. Therefore, we that are now in Christ, let us rejoice looking for that Blessed Hope, for God’s people are even now Returning into their land, even so is that day nearer than when we first believed. Amen.

To See And Perceive

Today's Verse is Deuteronomy 29:4
Yet the LORD hath not given you an heart to perceive, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, unto this day.

How many times did the children of Israel see the mighty and wonderful works of God only forget what they haves seen just one to three days later? Over and over again did this happen until after all of those that left Egypt being 20 years or older passed away. Later we are told No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: Much debate has been made on the implications of this. Yet, we have this promise: And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. And again later, But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. So, pick up those breadcrumbs He has left you, especially from His Word, confessing that He is Lord, and believing in your Heart that God hath raised Jesus from the dead, and on the Day of Jesus Christ you shall see Him as He, having been transformed into the image of His Son, just as He has promised. Amen.

Why Give?

Today's Verse is Deuteronomy 26:11
And thou shalt rejoice in every good thing which the LORD thy God hath given unto thee, and unto thine house, thou, and the Levite, and the stranger that is among you.

This is in the context of giving the tithe and assumes that you have seen the blessings of having been obedient to the commands and statutes found within the law of God. There is a strong implication that the blessings we have recieved from God, should motivate us to “pay forward” these same blessing to others, and therefore as we give, let us remember those things that the Lord has done for us, and in Gratitude for these blessing allow him to shine forth through us, as we encounter and give to those we meet, and if we are unable to see these blessings, perhaps it is time to Repent, and turn to the Lord God that we might learn of His mercy and grace. Amen.

Seeing The Cross

Today's Verse is Deuteronomy 21:23
His body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but thou shalt in any wise bury him that day; (for he that is hanged is accursed of God;) that thy land be not defiled, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.

In Scripture, the practice of hanging on a tree is rare. I know of several that have been hanged upon a town or city wall, the King of Ai appears also to have been hanged upon a tree, but the most significant one that was hung upon a tree, was the only truly innocent through out all of Scripture; Jesus Christ. Who having been hung on the Cross (the tree) took our curse upon himself, that all that will, may exchange their sin for his Righteousness. Have you received this gift?

The Example Of The King

Today's Verse is Deuteronomy 17:18
And it shall be, when he sitteth upon the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write him a copy of this law in a book out of that which is before the priests the Levites:

Some interesting things in this context. First, God foretells the mood of the people when they call for a King. Then he is to submit himself to God by reading and obeying God’s Word throughout his life, setting himself as an example unto the People, that they too might Fear the Most High God. So, too then, must we also who are now in Christ Jesus, for in him have we also been made both Priests and Kings; therefore, let us not live by bread alone but by every Word that precedes out of the mouth of God. Amen.

When Giving: Give Liberally Remembering The Goal.

Today's Verse is Deuteronomy 15:8
But thou shalt open thine hand wide unto him, and shalt surely lend him sufficient for his need, in that which he wanteth.

I will not say I fully understand this. However, taking it in context, our motive for withholding help for our neighbour must not be: because he cannot repay. But taking it out of this context, allowing us to enable our neighbours to continue in unproductive lifestyles would or should be excluded. Are we not later commanded: if any would not work, neither should he eat. Even as we can conclude by the laws concerning the gleanings during harvest, the welfare system provided by God. So, when our neighbour falls upon hard times, let us give to them liberally, and perhaps even sacrificially, according to their needs, To the purpose that they might regain their footing, able once again to provide for themselves and others. Amen.

The Misuse of Liberty

Today's Verse is Deuteronomy 12:8
Ye shall not do after all the things that we do here this day, every man whatsoever is right in his own eyes.

In my Nation, we at one time valued Liberty, which is quickly disappearing. Yet, Liberty, as can be misused, even as the adage: Follow your heart. Even that same heart which is deceitful above all and desperately wicked. But, herein is the correct use of Liberty, for even this day, we have been given a choice, to chose between a blessing or a curse; Between life and death; To whom we shall serve. Therefore, Today, will you choose the Blessing, will you choose Life, will you choose to serve Jesus Christ; of whom it was said: Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again? Of which I take to understand, that nothing that we give to God will be in vain, but profitable both to Him and to us. Amen.

God Chastens [Corrects] His Own

Today's Verse is Deuteronomy 8:5
Thou shalt also consider in thine heart, that, as a man chasteneth his son, so the LORD thy God chasteneth thee.

Often the question is asked after hearing of God’s Free Gift of Salvation and its Eternal Nature: So, then, I can go out and sin freely howsoever I wish. To which Paul answers: God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? But, and if [when] we do, we find ourselves on the “darker” aspect of Love. For love seeks the betterment of the one that is Loved, and we have already seen, that to disobey God, can only be done to our own hurt, even before God actively Judges. So, to mitigate, God will chasten those He calls His own, though as painful as the chastening may be, will save those He chastens from the greater Harm. Therefore, when we are chastened (for surly we will be) let us seek Repentance soonest, that we might receive all the Blessings He has prepared for us, at the Due Time. Amen.

Shewing Our Love Of God.

Today's Verse is Deuteronomy 5:10
And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments.

The final part of the commandment: Thou shalt not make thee any graven image, which is given, at least in part, to encourage us to walk not by sight, but by faith, and this second commandment is the first that we find the link between obeying God as the evidence that we Love him, and the verse before it shewing His retribution of them that hate Him. We have already looked at the natural and supernatural benefits of obeying the law, but here we also see God’s first form of Judgment upon those that hate him, even the natural consequence of disobedience. Thereby, even as we who have been Redeemed, let us shew forth that fruit of Love, given to us by His Spirit that we might shew all, our Love for Him, even as He first Loved us. Amen.

Who Is Fighting For You?

Today's Verse is Deuteronomy 3:33
Ye shall not fear them: for the LORD your God he shall fight for you.

In another place we are told: The battle is the Lord’s. Therefore, whatever it is we face, the only thing we ought to fear, is to displease the Most High God, Creator of Heaven and Earth, who made us for His pleasure. And for His pleasure, he determined to take our place, and suffer for our sin, that if we but receive it, He will Redeem us unto Himself, so in like manner we can expect Him to fight all of our Battles, whatever the effort he might expect us to make. Will you place all your Trust in Him? Amen.

Was God Late?

Today's Verse is Deuteronomy 1:3
And it came to pass in the fortieth year, in the eleventh month, on the first day of the month, that Moses spake unto the children of Israel, according unto all that the LORD had given him in commandment unto them;

Eleven months after the being in the wilderness for the promised forty years and at least another month for the morning for Moses; did God delay? I do not believe so, for He gave them Sihon and Og, and showed them that with Him, they could defeat them; therefore, already two and a half tribes already have their possession. Whenever we perceive that a delay has occurred on the timetable that God has given us, it is alway a good thing to consider what may have caused it, for throughout the scriptures and even in my own life, I have found that God knows the perfect time, never being early, and never late. So, if the time seems past, look to see, how God has already begun to work to bring about the thing he has promised. Amen.

When The Wicked Perish.

Today's Verse is Numbers 35:31
Moreover ye shall take no satisfaction for the life of a murderer, which is guilty of death: but he shall be surely put to death.

This month, in my nation, there has been an incident, in which a woman died. On one side, the claim is justified self-defense, and on the other, she was murdered. I know my opinion on the matter, but once the whole matter has been discovered, here are God’s guidelines on how one ought to react to this woman’s death, especially if she is not innocent in the matter. Is her death tragic? In so much that God hates the death of the wicked, without a doubt. Yet God’s command on the issue is: Thine eye shall not pity him, but thou shalt put away the guilt of innocent blood from Israel, that it may go well with thee. However, neither ought we to take satisfaction. This is a very fine line. So, knowing that we shall all likewise perish, unless we Repent, let us remember to Judge Righteous judgment, knowing that we also shall be held to account. I for one, am glad that I have an Advocate to speak on my behalf, when I must face the Judge. Amen.

The Demand Of God's Holiness

Today's Verse is Numbers 33:55
But if ye will not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you; then it shall come to pass, that those which ye let remain of them shall be pricks in your eyes, and thorns in your sides, and shall vex you in the land wherein ye dwell.

We have seen that God is Holy, and as He is Holy, He has called the Children of Israel to be Holy (the same applies to us who name the name of Jesus Christ) and as God had promised in the next verse, so had he done with all longsuffering. And as we have been so Warned, let us purify ourselves, even as He is pure that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward, unlike Lot which left his home with little more than two of his daughters and his wife that perished in the way. Have we not the Fellowship of the Spirit, which dwells within us, to guide us in the Way of Righteousness, according to God’s Word. Amen.

What God Has To Say On Genocide!

Today's Verse is Numbers 31:15
And Moses said unto them, Have ye saved all the women alive?

Those that would find fault with God, would claim that this shews that God is for genocide. To this, believe it or not I agree. To this, God says: But if our unrighteousness commend the righteousness of God, what shall we say? is God unrighteous who taketh vengeance? (I speak as a man) God forbid: for then how shall God judge the world? Yet, then, why do we not as followers of Jesus Christ do the same things? Do you not know the answer Jesus gave to Pilate? Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence. So, now, we abide as Ambassadors in a foreign land declaring to all that will hear, the coming of the Kingdom, that Jesus did not begin then, but will, after He shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not he gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day. All of this, even as it was in the context of Moses command, is not without cause, Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you[.] So, now, let us be faithful to declare the Good News to all, that those that will hear may escape this Judgment to come, even as we have in Christ Jesus. Amen.

Knowing The One That Keeps His Promises

Today's Verse is Numbers 30:2
If a man vow a vow unto the LORD, or swear an oath to bind his soul with a bond; he shall not break his word, he shall do according to all that proceedeth out of his mouth.

How easy is it today, that we seem to completely disregard this commandment. Yet, God, who never changes, even from Adam and Eve, made all of mankind His Promise: And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seen and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. And ever since, until it was fulfilled in Jesus Christ, mankind has been looking for this Saviour, and some rejecting, still do. But unlike us, God unable to lie, keeps His Promises, and there are yet promises left to be fulfilled. Let us, therefore, find and identify them, and hold onto them until we see All Fulfilled, even as He has Said. Amen.

A Word Of Warning, And Of Hope.

Today's Verse is Numbers 26:64
But among these there was not a man of them whom Moses and Aaron the priest numbered, when they numbered the children of Israel in the wilderness of Sinai.

Of those that refused to cross over to Jordan because they did not believe, none remained. Yet, if you were to compare the numbers after the forty years, to the numbers before, the children of Israel are larger than they were at the start. And of those that were not to enter into the Promise land, only Moses remained. What is it that we should take from this? Israel had a promise, but because of unbelief they feared the wrong thing, and believing not, they did not see the promise. Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. So, while it called To day, let us hear his voice, and harden not our hearts, that we might not lose anything the Lord wishes to bless us with. Will you Trust in the Lord, with all thine heart, and see in due time all of His Promises fulfilled in you? Amen.

The Folly Of Making God Your Enemy

Today's Verse is Numbers 24:19
Out of Jacob shall come he that shall have dominion,
And shall destroy him that remaineth of the city.

Before Balak sought out Balaam to curse Israel, Moses testified of them: And the Lord said unto me, Distress not the Moabites, neither contend with them in battle: for I will not give thee of their land for a possession: because I have given Ar unto the children of Lot for a possession. Yet for his fear, Balak brought about the future destruction of his people. Today, often you see those that refuse to even acknowledge God, mock Him, for His desire to Judge them, accusing Him of doing so, Unrighteously. This argument did not work for Job. It will not work for them. Do you not know, have you not heard that God is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance? Therefore, let us put aside those things that are not Convenient, and turn to the One that is Good, accepting His gift of Salvation through His Son Jesus Christ, that we might Live in Righteousness for all of eternity with Him. Amen.

A Strange Thing

Today's Verse is Numbers 21:1
And when king Arad the Canaanite, which dwelt in the south, heard tell that Israel came by the way of the spies; then he fought against Israel, and took some of them prisoners.

What? Israel lost a battle while in the wilderness. The scoffers, the murmurers, the complainers should all have been out in force, yet we see them not until after this King and his people were defeated and utterly destroyed. Yet, instead, we see Israel vowing to do that which the Lord had commanded them: to destroy those that took some of them prisoners. I do not know why God allowed some of Israel to be taken captive at this time (Israel having been the complainers they were up to this time, may have something to do with it) but we see for the first time (I believe) that Israel trusted in the Lord their God, and in trusting Him, and doing His commandment, they saw the victory, as short lived as it was, for it would appear, immediately after they again took up their complaints about God’s supply. So, will you also, have experienced a major setback, Trust in the Lord your God, and purpose in your heart to do what He has already commanded, that you also might see God do what He has already told you He will do? Selah [Just think about this.] Amen.

The Iniquity Of The Priesthood.

Today's Verse is Numbers 18:1
And the LORD said unto Aaron, Thou and thy sons and thy father’s house with thee shall bear the iniquity of the sanctuary: and thou and thy sons with thee shall bear the iniquity of your priesthood.

Bear the iniquity of . . . I marvel at this phrase in regard to those that were to be Priests of the Most High God, who calls us to be Holy, for He is Holy. This says that to be a Priest, or even to be a Levite, was to be no small thing, but that there was a terrible responsibility, that goes with it. For this cause they were to be held to a higher standard, even when we have been taught, we can’t even keep or live up to the standard God has given to every man. But we see Jesus, who came and fulfilled the Law of God, then bore the iniquity of us all. Even as he took our place upon the Cross bearing the iniquity of all, that whosoever will, will be made whole before the Righteous Holy Judge. So then, How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him[.] Will you, therefore, rest in this Gift? Amen.

How To Find God's True Word.

Today's Verse is Numbers 16:28
And Moses said, Hereby ye shall know that the LORD hath sent me to do all these works; for I have not done them of mine own mind.

Even as Korah, Dathan, and Abiram had rebelled not against Moses, the man God had chosen, but they rebelled against God, and such was their influence that when God judged them, the people feared not God, but blamed Moses for their death, even though all he had done was pronounce the Judgment of God against them. He laid not a hand upon them. Today, we have many that follow after this error, rejected God’s pure Word, claiming that it has been corrupted, and then claim another book to be superior. How do we know which is True? Has not God told us? By Moses we are warned of those that would lead us to go after another God, to consent not to them, and then again later He warns: When a prophet speaketh in the name of the Lord, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him. So, we have the invitation of God to test His Word, to see whether it be so or not. For my part, the more that I read, the more that I understand, the more and more I find that God has been faithful to His Word which He given us in the Bible. Amen.

God Steps In!

Today's Verse is Numbers 14:10
But all the congregation bade stone them with stones. And the glory of the LORD appeared in the tabernacle of the congregation before all the children of Israel.

After having seen God deliver them out of Egypt, and destroy the armies of Pharoah, after seeing God provide for them time and again, despite their murmurings and complaining, after agreeing to obey God’s Law, and once again celebrating and remembering how God brought them out of Egypt, still after seeing the difficulties that lay before them, most still could not see that God was able to keep his promise to them. So, before they could make the final mistake, even as their mutiny was at its height, God stepped in and spared Moses from their ire. And by Moses request, God spared the multitude, but not without consequence. For by their Rebellion, they lost the opportunity to enter into the Promised Land themselves, but God held to his Promise, even reminding them of it, that their children would have His Hope before them. Seeing this, how will you respond to His Works in your life? Amen.

The Danger Of Not Being Content.

Today's Verse is Numbers 11:33
And while the flesh was yet between their teeth, ere it was chewed, the wrath of the LORD was kindled against the people, and the LORD smote the people with a very great plague.

It is the penchant of a particular group today, to continuously pit one group against another, using envy to cause division, in the verse above we see the end of those that follow such a path. If you will remember, recently, I looked at the blessings God gives those that would follow his Law, if we are receiving these blessings, what does it matter how God is also blessing our neighbour? And, again, if we are not receiving these blessings, it is not our neighbour we should blame. Who among us, will first blame the one that is truly responsible, ourselves. Paul had counseled Timothy, But godliness with contentment is great gain. and again, shortly after, And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. Is this not where Israel failed here? Wishing for those things they had before, not being content with the provision God had given them? Let us, therefore, be content with what God has provided for today, knowing that anything we may lack, he has already determined to supply whatsoever we need at the proper time, as we ask in all humility. I have been surprised, by what he has allowed. Amen.
