Today's verse is Luke 7:15-16
And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he delivered him to his mother.
And there came a fear on all: and they glorified God, saying, That a great prophet is risen up among us; and, That God hath visited his people.
“And there came a fear on all:” What caused the people to fear in this case? Was it not that Jesus displayed power over death? That they saw evidence that God was working through Jesus Christ? Though even at this point they did not realize that it was God himself, and not just a man working on his behalf. Let us recognize now, that to see God work, is a cause to fear Him, and Him alone, for the Fear of the Lord will truly put all other fears in the proper perspective, for if we fear him, we need not to fear anything else. Notice that when they feared, that they also Glorified God, and part of my takeaway on this, is that they Rejoiced. That is, the fear of God, lead to rejoicing. Amen.
To God be the Glory
