The Salvation Of The Thief On The Cross

Today's verse is Luke 23:41-42
And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.
And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.

Let us examine the confession of the thief on the cross: And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds: He recognized his own guilt, and less importantly the guilt of the other (he even testified here and gave witness) but this man hath done nothing amiss. He also recognized that this Jesus, which was on the cross beside him truly was innocent, but that God himself was doing a work in what was happening here. And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. Jesus is like him dying, Jesus like him will be dead soon, yet, in this statement he displayed his belief, just as Abraham did when he went to sacrifice his son, that he would be raised up afterward, so, this thief confessed with his mouth the Lord Jesus, and he believed in his heart that God would -- it had not happened yet -- rise him up from the dead, therefore he called on name of the Lord and was, as promised, Saved. Selah [Have you done, or will you do the same?] Amen.

To God be the Glory
