Today's Verse is Genesis 32:7
Then Jacob was greatly afraid and distressed: and he divided the people that was with him, and the flocks, and herds, and the camels, into two bands;
Upon first reading this, and for the longest time, I wondered how this action could be counted of faith, until I came to what I would consider a similar (in no way the same) situation. Jacob in having a conflict in what he sees, and what God had promised him, immediately takes action to prepare for what he fears. However, he has not forgotten the promises God has made, for having prepared for the worst, he then gets alone with God, presenting both the problem and the promises God has made him, and so we have the story of his literal wrestling match with God, and having “prevailed” his name was changed. Yet, he still seeks to appease his brother, making peace with him, even as we are later counseled by Christ to reconcile with those who have ought against us. So, even as we also find ourselves having to Trust in the one that calleth those things which be not as though they were, consider both the biblical action to what is before us, not forgetting the promises we have received from God. Amen.
