God Will Remove His Own When He Judges The Earth

Today's Verse is Genesis 19:16
And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the LORD being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city.

Peter has called Lot by the Spirit of God a righteous man. Yet, we can easily see how Lot’s faith had been choked out by the cares of this world. However, when it truly counted his faith was shown forth by work, for he recognized these “men” as from God as he refused to take no for an answer and gave them shelter from the wickedness of his neighbors. And still, having heard that judgment was set for the City he lived in, he Lingered so that he had to be forced out of the city that God’s promise to Abraham might not be broken, even though ten righteous could not be found. In this we have a Picture, for as God would not leave his own in the place of destruction then, even so now as Peter continues to observe: The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished[.] As it was then, so it will be when Christ comes back for his own and catches them up before he rains down his wrath upon those who have refused to believe. Are you watching?

To God be the Glory
