Giving And Receiving Forgiveness

Today's Verse is Genesis 45:5
Now therefore be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that ye sold me hither: for God did send me before you to preserve life.

Even though Joseph had treated his brothers with suspicion with some harsh results, testing them to see whether or not they have repented of what they had done to him, once he was satisfied, we have this evidence that he forgave them, because God used what they did for Good. From this we can learn: First, that we can forgive others of what they have done to us, because God is in control, and as Paul has clarified; And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called to his purpose. Therefore, we need not, Yea, we must not harbour ill will to our neighbour (notwithstanding the testimony of those found under the altar.) Then second, when forgiven, we can also forgive ourselves, again because God is in Control. All of those consequences that come from our wicked ways, direct or indirect, we can turn over to the God that can work anything and everything together to bring about the perfect end. Therefore, will you Trust in the one that gave himself for you, both forgiving your neighbour and yourself as you accept the forgiveness that God has given you through Jesus Christ? Amen.

To God be the Glory
