Today's verse is Deuteronomy 32:5
They have corrupted themselves, their spot is not the spot of his children:
They are a perverse and crooked generation.
Do ye thus requite the LORD,
O foolish people and unwise?
Is not he thy father that hath bought thee?
Hath he not made thee, and established thee?
To requite: To payback. It can be done both as punishment, or as returning a blessing. Consider the last part of these verses, of what God has done for the children of Israel, and through them for you. All that you have that is good comes directly from him. He has provided it because he loves you. Yea, It is he that has made you, You are, because he has made you. But not only that, but he has provided for you a way to escape the error of all thy ways; To escape the just recompense for the things you do that so displease the Righteous Holy God that made you, for his pleasure. So, seek his Son, even the one that took your place, and in finding him, you will find peace with the God that hates the wicked, and you yourself will be found righteous in his presence. Amen.
