A Wrong Conclusion!

Today's verse is Joshua 7:7
And Joshua said, Alas, O Lord GOD, wherefore hast thou at all brought this people over Jordan, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us? would to God we had been content, and dwelt on the other side Jordan!

Sin had entered the camp, none but the sinner and his family knowing, causing all of Israel to fail, and fall short, and lose a battle. Here is an example of a bas self-examination. Why was Joshua still alive, when all but one other of his generation had fallen in the wilderness? Why was Joshua now the leader of Israel? How is it, that Joshua, of all people, think that they should have stayed on the other side of Jordan? Jeremiah tells us: “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” Once you have clearly understood the path the Lord your God has set for you, take care not to doubt that leading when you face an unexpected obstacle. Do examine yourself and seek out any sin that may have entered in, as was needed here, but, again, do not doubt the Lord your God, for he already has the solution, and the obstacle was set for a reason, even for your benefit. (Even such a one as this one.) Amen.
