Waiting On The Lord

Today's verse is Psalm 130:5
     I wait for the LORD, my soul doth wait,
      And in his word do I hope.

    The word “wait” here is very close to the same concept that the New Testament uses the word “patience.” It is a cessation of activity toward a particular goal. Now let us look at that second part “in his word do I hope.” I would say this includes an observation and obedience to that same Word wherein it is possible. So let us look at another passage from yesterday’s reading.
    Blessed is every one that feareth the Lord;
      That walketh in his ways.
    For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands:
      Happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee.
Here we see what should motivate us, in the order it should motive, or inspire us. First all things that we do ought to made to confirm to the Statutes found in God’s Word, but take note of that second verse. That part about eating the labour of thine hands. Did you know, this is one of the blessings found of those that inhabit eternity? But we must aspire to be able by our own labor to meet our own needs. But notice that word “For,” This is to say, that this blessing is dependent on our obedience to God’s Ways. So as you wait upon the Lord, look for ways to provide for yourself and those that you are responsible for, Then thank God for the blessings he has given you. Amen.

To God be the Glory
