Today's verse is 1 Samuel 20:31
For as long as the son of Jesse liveth upon the ground, thou shalt not be established, nor thy kingdom. Wherefore now send and fetch him unto me, for he shall surely die.
Saul, here testified that he knew what God’s Will was, yet he did not want it to come to pass, and was vain enough to think that he could change the outcome without repenting, driving himself only deeper in sin. Now, think not that only Saul could do such a foolish thing, for even Solomon, proclaimed by God to be the Wisest man ever to live, attempted the exact same folly. Know this, Saul had transgressed, therefore God said he would give the Kingdom to another. This was set, for God does not lie, nor does he change, but we have seen how God can change a curse into a blessing, or even a blessing into a curse, if need be. So, do you know the Will of God? Is it currently contrary to your desires? As the writer of Hebrews said, “Lift up holy hands,” that is allow the chastisement to come, learn from it, and surrender afresh to the Will of God, for as you repent, just perhaps God will once again change a blessing into a curse, or at the very least, delay the judgment that is coming, as he had done for Ahab, and Josiah. Amen.
To God be the Glory
