Today's verse is Romans 12:1a
I beseech you therefore
Yes, I know, only a part of a verse, but a very powerful part. This speaks to reason, or motivation for doing what comes after, so let us look at what ought to motivate us:
- The Helplessness of Man
- The Hope of the Cross
- The Change from Resurrection
- God’s Plan for Salvation (not happy with this summation, but will do for now)
Each of these in Part and as a Whole ought to motivate us to live in such a way as is pleasing to God. Right now I wish to focus on the Resurrection. John tells us that the hope of Christ’s coming ought to cause us to purify ourselves even as he is pure. This hope is nothing other than the hope of Resurrection, of which, starts to work in us not at Christ’s Second coming, but form the time we are saved, but is completed when he comes again. So, as we look forward to a day that we shall be found Righteous in Christ, let us let him work in us today, reckoning ourselves dead indeed unto sin, and alive to Christ our Savior. Amen.
To God be the Glory
Scott
