Today's verse is 1 Timothy 1:8
But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully;
Many, even most think that the purpose of the Law, God definition of right and wrong, is so that we might know how to please God. While it is true, that if we could faithfully keep even jot and title of the Law, we would indeed have cause to glory, but because we can’t, this is not its purpose! It’s purpose is to show how it is impossible for us to meet God standard, that we truly have no ability , of our own accord, by our own strength, to do that which pleases a most righteous and holy God. To put simply, the Law is to show us our need. This same need which God, through Jesus Christ, answers by the blessed truth of the Gospel. So do not strive to do that which is impossible, but allow the one that died for you, and rose again to live through you, and by this you will truly please the God that loves you. Amen.
