Who is God?
Today's verse is Numbers 23:19
God is not a man, that he should lie;
Neither the son of man, that he should repent:
Hath he said, and shall he not do it?
Or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?
As a young man, even as a child growing up, I ever questioned, “Is God willing to help me?” Never was the question, “Is God able to help me?” For who was I that I should be helped of God, but David himself asked the same question, “What is man, that thou art mindful of him?/ And the son of man, that thou visitest him?” But here we see Israel, who time and again murmured and complained and sinned against God, yet God says of them when speaking to those outside of the relationship that he has not beheld iniquity in Jacob. This is all because God has told Abraham, Issac and Jacob that he would give to them the land of Canaan. So as he kept is Word to Israel, and as he will fulfill that not yet completed, so too will he keep his Word to us who have accepted his Promise of Salvation through Jesus Christ, for it is not, “Who am I, but who he is!” Amen.
To God be the Glory
