Baptism of the Holy Ghost
Today's verse is Luke 3:16
John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:
Fifty days after Jesus Christ ascended up into heaven (the Pentecost) this promise was fulfilled, and now all that have come, and all that will come to Jesus for Salvation, are given this gift: the baptism of the Holy Ghost. Simply if you have not received him, ye are not saved as Paul has declared in Romans: “But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.” With God’s spirit in us we gain the power over sin, and as we submit to the Spirit, and follow him, we shall not sin. He also enables us to boldly tell others what Jesus has done for us. Finally, (for this message, for this is not exhaustive of the Spirit’s ministry to us) he comforts us in times of trouble. Let us therefore, give all the praise to God, and submit to his Spirit, for in this way we shall give him all the Glory. Amen.
To God be the Glory
