First Things First

Today's verse is Luke 10:42
But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

Many of heard of Mary and Martha, Martha being the one cumbered about serving, and we all agree that service is important, and must be done, but we are here taught that as important as serving may be, something else must take precedence. We must take time out as it were to sit at Jesus’ feet, hearing and knowing him first, for it is only by this that we can know how to properly serve. For if we seek him, and learn of him, he will direct us, and give us the wisdom to do those things that he wants done. So let us serve, but first, let us just spend time with our Lord and friend, that when we serve, we shall also be fruitful. Amen.
