The Right Perspective

Today's verse is Luke 11:27-28
And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked.
But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.

We have a tendency to venerate the wrong things, such as this woman here praising Mary for bearing the Son of God. However, Mary is just as we are, a sinful vessel that God used for his Glory. More important is that we seek out, read and keep God’s Word, for in it we will find all the answers that are important: how to live, what to eat, what to wear, and the most important of all, how to avoid in Hell the punishment for our sins. For in God’s Word we find Jesus, the author and finisher of our Salvation, and it is by him we can and shall have life everlasting, through his redeeming of our sins. Amen.
