Sin Is Of The Devil

 

Today's verse is 1 John 3:8

He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

    Did not John earlier tell us, “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us[?]” Did not Paul also proclaim, “O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?” Let us not make light of the dire nature of sin, for truly as the devil destroys so does even the smallest sin, if allowed to persist in our lives. But we have a Savior, even the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who came that we might be found not in the devil but in him, for even as the law reveals sin in our lives, so the Spirit of God that dwells in all that believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ enables them to fulfill the law, for if we love one another, what law would we transgress? Amen.
