Dealing With Affliction And Pain

Today's verse is Psalm 25:18
     Look upon mine affliction and my pain;
      And forgive all my sins.

    From this request of David, let us also remember Job. By God’s testimony, Job suffered not because of open sin, but yet in the end, he had need of repentance. Now we can be confident that whether soon our late, pain and affliction is a natural result of sin, so as we suffer, for whatever reason, we can take the occasion to examine ourselves by the mirror of God’s Word, looking for and by God’s grace finding how we have come short (for are we not sons of Adam, and till we are changed, we will not have attained perfection) and as we find these things, confess them to our Merciful God, who is always quick to forgive, as we seek to learn, of him, his ways. Amen.
