Today's verse is Ecclesiastes 7:8
Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.
The end being better than the beginning is a truism: consider when God told Abraham to sacrifice his son Issac at the beginning, Abraham had hope that God would raise his son from the dead, in the end, Issac was spared, and a ram, sacrificed in his place, the matter being concluded. But, what of this other thing, the patient in spirit versus the proud, read on, and you will see proud and hasty are comparable, and in another place, we read: “He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding; but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.” The proud acts and reacts before the matter is known, the patient keeps his eyes upon God, and seeks understanding in the events before him, thus the end is better than the beginning. Amen.
