Today's verse is Psalm 20:4
Grant thee according to thine own heart,
And fulfil all thy counsel.
Balak, the King of Moab, sought to use God as his personal talisman, one that did his bidding just because it was Balak’s will without concern for what God’s purpose was, or is. In contrast, we see this Psalm which appears to encourage us to do the very same thing. But here is the thing, the supplicant is admonished to remember his offering, his burnt sacrifices: these things are not done to align God to us, but instead to recognize that we need to be made right with God. It is when our heart has been aligned with the Most High God, that he will then grant us our desires of the heart. It is when we seek to do God’s business, that we can expect him to take care of ours. It is when we are his servant, that he will make himself our servant. Selah [Think on this.] Amen.
To God be the Glory
