So Send I You

Today's verse is John 20:21
Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.

Once we have accepted the gift that Jesus offers us; immediately, he gives us a charge: We are to proclaim to all what he has done for us, he will also do for them. But as the world did not, does not accept him, it is highly likely that they will not accept us as well. So as he has been sent into the world, to be accepted by some, rejected by others, even unto the Cross, so also we can expect the same. But as that may be true, consider this promise, “The Lord is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup:/Thou maintainest my lot.” As Jesus did not act of his own, nor except for a brief period on the Cross was he ever alone, even so, we are not alone, and he is ever with us, and while some of our present circumstances may seem uncertain, we can always be certain in him, and secure in the knowledge that he will never leave nor forsake us. Amen.
