Being Chastened

Today's verse is 1 Corinthians 11:32
But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

Who can say that to be chastened is pleasant? But all that have been chastened and learned from it, have been thankful later for the correction. As we all ought to know, none of us are yet perfected, all of us have sins that we struggle with, and not only that, but sometimes, each of us find ourselves tempted and then overcome with outright disobedience. It is at such times that our loving Father reaches out and chastens us, not to condemn us, but to correct us, and give us the resources we need to overcome the next time we are tested. But if we have truly accepted his precious gift through Jesus Christ (examine yourself) he will in no wise cast us out from his presence. Amen.

To God be the Glory
