Why Blessing Our Persecutors?

Today's verse is Romans 12:14
Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.

I don’t know about you, but I have watched a man as he was spewing what I believe to be lies and asked my Heavenly Father to kill him. (He is still alive today and is still spewing his river of lies.) Yet, considering that God hates the death of the wicked, is it no wonder he has this to say to us of such: To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men, For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. (This so describes the man I am thinking of) But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared. For even as God has shown us his grace when we were yet sinners, so too does he yearn that this man might receive redemption. Will he, I don’t know, but if I can be saved, if you can be saved, for that matter if the Apostle Paul can be saved, so too can this Evil and Vile and Wicked man. For in the eyes of God, we have all been such as him. Amen.

To God be the Glory
Scott
