Today's Verse is Proverbs 4:23
Keep thy heart with all diligence;
For out of it are the issues of life.
You most likely have heard: “Follow your heart.” Yet, here we have a different command, for in keeping our heart, we must remember and know the warning we have been given by Jeremiah: The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? To which the Lord says: I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings. Therefore, let us not follow the heart, let us not be controlled by our emotions, but rather as we have been admonished by Solomon: Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; (its proper use) and lean not to thine own understanding. No matter how much we have learned, how mush wisdom we have gained, we still only see through a glass darkly, we still do not know all of what is going on about us, therefore; In all thy ways acknowledge him, search out God’s Word, and obey it in all things, for his Word is perfect, and will never lead you astray, And thus: he shall direct thy paths. Amen.
