Today's verse is Deuteronomy 6:8
And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.
If you were to go to Israel, or a Jewish community, you may see those that have taken this verse and obeyed it by having a box before their eyes with a verse of scripture written inside it, but neither they, nor you can see what is written within. I know that I, having placed upon my door, or upon my wall, this verse or that and have many times gone by it, without seeing it. But what is our injunction here? Is it not to do as Joshua has commanded us: This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. What good is God’s Word to us, if cannot see it? What good is it to us if we do not read it? What good is it to us if we do not think upon it? And what good is it to us if we do not obey it? Just as Israel had forgotten God and his Word, were exiled, and wandered the Earth for centuries (rather than being destroyed, for they are God’s People chosen of God) because they have forgotten his Word, so too will we come to naught, if we ignore his message to us. Therefore, let us learn of Him, Both the good and the terrible, and seek to receive his Good, which he will give freely to all that come to him on his terms, and fear his Wrath, though he be slow to show it, till he comes to set up His Kingdom on the Earth. Amen.
