Know What You Are Building With, And On.

Today's verse is 1 Corinthians 3:14
If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.

Wood, hay and stubble, these are the materials by which we use when we do our works without faith, by the power of the flesh. Stubble, generally is worthless, representing outright sins which plague our lives. Hay is a little better, as it can be used (for example, thatch.) Then there is wood, by which many a beautiful edifice has been made, but none of these can abide the fire, none of these will survive the final test. We know that it is impossible to please God, but by faith, and this faith comes only by God’s Word, and when we mediate upon it, and work according to it, our God has promised us: Good success. So, surrender to the Spirit, who will provide those materials that will not burn, and keep your eyes upon the prize which God has promised, and not on the vain machinations of the wicked, which by God’s Word are bound to fail, crumbling down around them, for not even their foundation can stand, even as they bring upon themselves the very judgments God has promised them in his Word. Amen.

To God be the Glory
