Examine and Repent

Today's verse is Lamentations 3:40
Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the LORD.

Consider Jeremiah and the things that he endured for the sake of his ministry to backsliding Judah; in the beginning of this chapter, Jeremiah lists his complaints of the things he had suffered, at the hands of those that did not want to hear what God had to say. It is interesting to note, that in the verse above, the pronouns he uses are “us” and “our” including himself in the sins of Judah, but as he is reflecting, he also remembers the graces and the mercies of God he has received. So, as Jeremiah, let us also when we face turmoil and hardship let us once again examine ourselves by God’s Word, and turn back to the Lord our God, and see how he might deliver us. Amen.

To God be the Glory
