True Repentance

Today's verse is Ezekiel 33:31
And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee as my people, and they hear thy words, but they will not do them: for with their mouth they shew much love, but their heart goeth after their covetousness.

It is said, “God will accept you as you are.” This is partly true. Consider what Paul said, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”  When we come to Jesus Christ, based upon his Sacrifice for us, we come to him, recognizing that our ways are displeasing to him, with a desire that he can do that which we cannot, and create in us a new heart pure and clean, unspotted by our sins of the past. But what does the verse above speak of? It speaks of those that come not to be redeemed, but only to escape the consequence of sins, without ever even a desire to change who they are, while displaying an outward veneer of respectability. Such a thing God hates and will not spare them the destruction they so desire to avoid. So let us turn to the one that redeems and see if he will spare us from the storm that is already upon us. Amen.
