The Final Rest

Today's verse is Revelation 14:13
And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.

“Blessed are the dead?” What of from another place, “Why do you not rather be defrauded?” These things are hard to hear, they are hard to consider, but let us try to do so. First, consider the time frame. The sins of man are at their height, The Beast is displaying his power, and is temporally in charge of all on Earth, in rebellion to the Mighty God. It is a strenuous time. And as revealed here, those that die, are able to rest. And then we find that there is something we can take beyond the grave. Our Works, those things that we have done by the power of the Spirit, they shall follow us, and by them God shall determine what rewards we shall have, to present them before an Holy God. Will you be empty handed? If you are in Christ (that is, you have accepted that gift of life, by his death upon the Cross) that is the only thing to fear, bringing nothing to him who has saved you. Selah [Consider carefully whether any of these blessings are yours.] Amen.

To God be the Glory
