The Lion's Den

Today's verse is Daniel 6:20-21
And when he came to the den, he cried with a lamentable voice unto Daniel: and the king spake and said to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God, whom thou servest continually, able to deliver thee from the lions?
Then said Daniel unto the king, O king, live for ever.

When Daniel learned that he could obey God, or the King, He obeyed God! He did not hide, nor did he dissemble, possibly remembering what had happened to his friends, when they refused to bow down to the Golden Statue raised by Nebuchadnezzar, that all might worship it. God saved them. If he was willing, He could save Daniel as well. But what if God had not been willing? Should Daniel still have obeyed God, rather than Man? Yet, God had a purpose, Darius the King had yet to believe. If God did not save Daniel from the Lions, What would become of the King? So, in sparing Daniel, and by Daniel’s testimony before, we see evidence that the King converted. Are you willing to pay the cost? Do you fear God, or the whims of Man? If God should ask your life, will you surrender it to him? Know of a certainty, that whatsoever God asks of you, It will not be in vain. Amen.

To God be the Glory
