A Look At New Jerusalem

Today's verse is Revelation 21:12-14
And had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel:
On the east three gates; on the north three gates; on the south three gates; and on the west three gates.
And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

.    Take note, that both Israel, and the Church have claim, and are represented in the structure of this City, New Jerusalem. Now, we are clearly told elsewhere that the Church is the bride of the lamb, and Israel is typed as the wife of God (the Father.) As we see in the passage above, the Church is Identified by the Apostles in the foundation, but the tribes of Israel are represented at the gates of the City. Now, we know that there is no Foundation for Salvation other than the Gospel, the Sacrificial work of Christ on the Cross, and I imagine that is how and why the Church is represented there. At this time, I do not understand the significance of Israel at the gates, but we can trust that it is not happenstance, but a mystery, just waiting to be unlocked which will further reveal the Glory of God. Selah [Meditate of this.] Amen.

To God be the Glory
