The Beginning Of Righteousness

Today's verse is James 3:2
For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.

David has said, “Let the words of my mouth, /And the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, /O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.” And Jesus later said, “But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.” James brings this principle forth and shines a light upon it. Since Adam, we have been, and are a sinful people, with a heart full of sin, not to be trusted. But we have a God, that can be trusted, and by trusting him above all things, and placing this sinful heart under his control, trusting not the heart, but the one who died for us, and his Word, which is able to cleanse us, we are able to first cleanse our thinking, bringing it under subjection of God’s Pure Word, and from right thinking, not only proceeds right words, but right actions as well, which will reinforce the right thinking, bringing us back to where we started. Selah [Think on This.] Amen.
