God's Refining Process

Today's verse is Jeremiah 30:11
For I am with thee, saith the LORD, to save thee:
Though I make a full end of all nations whither I have scattered thee,
Yet will I not make a full end of thee:
But I will correct thee in measure,
And will not leave thee altogether unpunished.

David in one of his Psalms said, “Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down:/ For the Lord upholdeth him with his hand.” (“He” is the good man, or the man that has trusted in God.) God through Jeremiah is saying the same thing here, speaking of Israel his people, and has God has promised Israel, so also has he promised us. We have been born sinners, and till Christ come, or we die, sin abides with us, so as a loving parent with a wayward child, God chastens us, whom he loves, rooting out the sin, and replacing it with his works of love by his Spirit which dwells in us. This process is by no means pleasant, but by God’s Grace, the end product will be Joy unspeakable and full of Glory. So has the Author of Hebrews says, “Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees;” let us therefore do, and look to our God that loves us, for he will bring us forth Righteous, in that day of his Glory. Amen.

To God be the Glory
