Follow God, Even When Others Doubt
Today's verse is I Samuel 23:2-3
Therefore David inquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go and smite these Philistines? And the LORD said unto David, Go, and smite the Philistines, and save Keilah.
And David’s men said unto him, Behold, we be afraid here in Judah: how much more then if we come to Keilah against the armies of the Philistines?
David as can be seen, asked of God what he should do, and receiving the answer, found an obstacle with his own men. These men were not of the best of Israel, but of the worst, for they all had reasons to hide. When, after David received direction from God and they announced their fear to do as God said, David verified in the next verse what God’s instructions are, and after verifying them he lead these fearful men to do them. So here is our lesson, when we have a clear leading of God, and those about us balk at the command, we may verify the command, but once verified we must do it, and as David and his men saw victory that day, so will we. Amen.
To God be the Glory
