Whom Should We Trust?

Today's verse is Acts 27:11
Nevertheless the centurion believed the master and the owner of the ship, more than those things which were spoken by Paul.

Is this not a normal thing? To believe those that seem to have knowledge, and are considered experts in their field? Now it is evident, that the knowledge of Paul came not fully of common sense (that is from a layman’s general experience) but from some sort of revelation from God. Yet, as is customary even today, the expert was believed over the messenger from God. Therefore, ignoring the warning, the leadership brought all into danger, which could have been avoided. So, let us consider, who knows more? God that created all, and has all knowledge, not only of the past and present, but even from the beginning, of all that will come to pass? Or the man who has had much learning and experience? Let us, therefore, take council from Solomon, the wisest man to have ever lived when he told his son to trust the Lord with all thy heart, and lean not to our own understanding. For truly, with our limited knowledge, what do we truly understand. Yet, if we trust him that made all, he promises to make the simple wise. Amen.

To God be the Glory
