Today's verse is Isaiah 33:6
And wisdom and knowledge shall be
The stability of thy times, and strength of salvation:
The fear of the Lord is his treasure.
Some would minimize the fear we ought to have of God, to something simple as Awe, or Reverence, even as great as they might be. But the Fear of the Lord is so much more than that. Consider what Jesus said in Luke: “And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.” Jesus gives us the proper comparison. For if you have ever faced the fear of peer pressure, that is nothing to what the Fear of God should be. But what of the fear of your lively hood being taken away? i.e. Not being able to work, therefore not being able to feed your family. Your Fear of God needs to be greater. What of directly what Jesus first says in Luke, fearing those that have threatened to kill you? Your Fear of God needs to be Greater. We are speaking here of abject Terror. But, consider the reward of such fear. Therein is found Wisdom. Therein is found Knowledge. Therein is found Stability. Most of all, Therein is found the Salvation that God gives to all that come to him through Jesus Christ. Amen.
To God be the Glory
