Today's Verse is Jeremiah 1:18
For, behold, I have made thee this day a defenced city, and an iron pillar, and brasen walls against the whole land, against the kings of Judah, against the princes thereof, against the priests thereof, and against the people of the land.
This is what God is saying to Jeremiah, his Prophet, his messenger. He is giving Jeremiah his promise of protection, because the Word he is to proclaim will not be a joyful one, because he is the Harbinger of the Judgment God is bringing upon the Nation Judah. And truly did Jeremiah survive the fall of Jerusalem and of Judah, though he went through many trials. We that have been redeemed by the Cross of Christ and his shed blood, having been commanded to proclaim the everlasting Gospel, while not enjoying this promise Jeremiah received, (are we greater than our Master?) Yet, we know that until our race has been run, we shall prevail, even has Jeremiah has. Let us, therefore, trusting in our God, be faithful to him, as we boldly tell our Neighbours the Good News. Amen.
To God be the Glory
