Today's verse is Matthew 4:9-10
And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.
Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
There are many things out there in this world that can be tempting, and the temptations that Jesus suffered in this passage covered them all, and this last one points us to the only one we ought and should devote ourselves, the Lord God of Heaven, who created all that is in Heaven, and all that is in Earth, as well as the Heavens and the Earth, themselves. It is he that hath made us, and it is by him we have our being, and it by his whim we live and breathe. All we have, all we can possess comes from him, and therefore to him we owe all. He as made us a way that we can please him, and we reject that way at our peril, for he has cause to be angry, but at his own expense, he has through his Son, given us a way to escape his wrath and live and abide with him forever. Will you accept his gift, or be snared by the lusts of your own deceitful heart? It is your choice, choose wisely. Amen.
To God be the Glory
