Reviled For Christ

Today's verse is 1 Peter 4:14
If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.

We have an example where Peter and another Apostle were put in prison for preaching the Cross of Christ. When they were released, they counted it joy that they were worthy to suffer for their Savior’s sake. This is what Peter is speaking of here. Many, in the name of Religion think that what ever they do in their God’s name is justified, but in the context of this verse we know that is not so. We are to respect life, we are to respect property, we are even to respect the secrets of others, for if we do not, God himself will chasten us, most likely by the hand of those that we wish to influence for the kingdom of God. So let us fear, and allow God to be glorified in us, even as we, though innocent are reviled. Amen.
