Compassion Now, Judgment In Due Course

Today's verse is 2 Peter 2:1
But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

The Law tells us that when the wicked receive their judgment, that we should neither rejoice over them, nor should we take pity upon them. But notice something here: Those that reject Christ for some other thing, and teach others to do the same, if they should repent, could also receive the redemption that we have gained in Jesus Christ. Jesus died for them as well. In Romans chapters 1 and 2, we see that the sinner is condemned, and deserves to be so, but in the first half of chapter 3, they (we) are hopelessly caught up in their sin with no natural desire to escape and turn to the God that loves them, but God made and provides a way. So while we are on this side of judgment, let us pray, and have compassion (pity) for those that know not the redemption that we have found in Christ, for would we not also be where they are, had he not found us? Selah [Think on this!] Amen.
