Today's Verse is 2 Chronicles 4:1
Moreover he made an altar of brass, twenty cubits the length thereof, and twenty cubits the breadth thereof, and ten cubits the height thereof.
When I read of King Ahaz replacing the brazen altar which Solomon had prepared for the Temple, I was thinking it was nearer the size to the altar which God had Moses make for the tabernacle. So, let us understand the size of the altar that was made for the Temple, at 18 inches per cubit, that would make this altar 30 feet to a side and 15 feet high, so, no small thing, yet the only measure we are given is that it was “the great altar” indicating that it was bigger than the one described here. But let us take note, much detail is given for the works that were done for God, but while the works done to spite God seem to be “greater,” in the end they do not matter at all. Even as we that have been brought into the family of God have a daily choice of what materials to build with, only those that are done by the power of the Spirit within us will remain, for all the rest will be burned up leaving nothing. Selah [Consider the ramifications.] Amen.
