Today's Verse is 1 Kings 1:11
Wherefore Nathan spake unto Bath-sheba the mother of Solomon, saying, Hast thou not heard that Adonijah the son of Haggith doth reign, and David our lord knoweth it not?
A problem has arisen which is contrary to the expressed will of God. In such cases what must one do? The first time that I believe such a case happened was with Jacob, when it was his father’s express purpose to give Esau the blessing. I believe we can safely say, Jacob’s actions were not acceptable, Yet he received the blessing. Then later, we have the example of Esther, who was warned that if see did not act, God would find a way, but she herself may not be spared, for her lack of action. Yet, when David himself was anointed King, he refused to rise up against Saul, and it, I believe, is counted in his honour. One thing we can see in Nathan and Bathsheba’ case, along with Ester, is that they took their case to the Authority God had set over them, and thus, God’s will was done. But with Jacob, and also with David, the Authority was the source of the problem. And so, with David as the example, he trusted that in due time, God would do as He had said; which He had indeed done. Amen.
