Today's Verse is I Kings 8:9
There was nothing in the ark save the two tables of stone, which Moses put there at Horeb, when the LORD made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of the land of Egypt.
One might ask, where is the mana? Where is Aaron’s Rod? But we will leave these mysteries until such time as God chooses to reveal them. Instead, let us answer the question, why was Solomon able to determine what was currently in the ark of the covenant? We know that when transporting the ark through the wilderness great care was used that those that bear the ark did not see it, for when those that were commissioned as Porters came to bear it, it was covered still by the veil. And the last time we were told of someone being curious of the contents: And he smote the men of Beth-shemesh, because they had looked into the ark of the Lord, even he smote of the people fifty thousand and threescore and ten men: and the people lamented, because the Lord had smitten many of the people with a great slaughter. But here, we have not the Levite, but one of the sons of Aaron, commissioned of God, and chosen to be the High Priest, and at the command of the King appointed so by God, and God knows those that are His. But now that the veil was torn when Christ died upon the Cross giving access to all that come to Him for redemption so that now we can come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. Amen.
