Restitution!

 

Today's Verse is Numbers 5:7

Then they shall confess their sin which they have done: and he shall recompense his trespass with the principal thereof, and add unto it the fifth part thereof, and give it unto him against whom he hath trespassed. 

    I must note, that just preceding this, we have a consequence of God’s Holiness, and I do believe this also stems from that. For true and complete forgiveness, we must consider the injured party and seek to make it right, whatever the price may be. Did not Jesus Christ command: Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift. Just as God has shown His love to thee [singular for you] so also has he shewn His love for your neighbour. Therefore, even as you seek His forgiveness, seek the forgiveness of any that you may have wronged, that God may be glorified in you, and you in Him, and perhaps also God in your neighbour. Amen.
