Who Do You Receive Counsel From?

Today's Verse is 2 Chronicles 22:4
Wherefore he did evil in the sight of the LORD like the house of Ahab: for they were his counsellers after the death of his father to his destruction.

Are you aware that we have been commanded: If thy brother, . . . or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, . . . Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him: [that which is missing of this text emphasizes the severity, and only left out for space] So, while Where no counsel is, the people fall: /But in the multitude of counsellers there is safety, this must be tempered by the first commandment. Do you know who your counsellers are? Do they counsel you in deference to the Word of God, or against it? It has been testified, and we can know: There is no wisdom nor understanding /Nor counsel against the Lord. And as we have seen with Ahaziah, that by the counsel of the house of Ahab, he was destroyed. Which counsel will you follow? Amen.
